Evaluation- post-production
In the first lesson after filming, we merged all the different footage we had onto one SD card as opposed to across three. We did this by deciding which clips where the worst and shouldn't be included in the final video or were good and should be considered. After we had all the possible shots in one place we began piecing them all together. We had one long shot of the whole band all the way through the song so put that in as a point of reference. We also used the same audio from the YouTube clip of their music video and added that in time with the long shot. Then, collectively, we decided which clips were best suited for each area of the video until we had enough varied footage to complete the 1minute 20 second section of the video we had to complete.
Evaluation- production
After everything was set up and the actors were in position we played the song (I bet you look good on the dancefloor-Arctic monkeys) several times through loudspeakers and had them lip sync and play through without filming. This was so they could get a feel for the tempo of the song. Sachin had brought in a DSLR and camcorder so we had three cameras to film on including one provided by the school and a tripod as well. As we had three cameramen and three cameras we just started the song playing through the speakers and got the actors to play the whole song through. We kept doing this several times over until Jordan Sachin and I felt we had all the shots necessary. This was possible as we started filming after school so that we had no time limit or fear of people walking in and ruining shots. The three of us would be constantly filming different shots throughout the play throughs with only the over-the-shoulder shot of Louis (the drummer) being filmed without the song in the background.
Evaluation- pre-production.
The first task we attempted to complete after being assigned into our group and given the video we were told to re-create, was to delegate roles. The roles we needed were band members (singer, guitarist, drummer and bassist) and director, cameramen and gaffer/best boy. It became apparent that all of the roles other than the acting could be merged into a communal role within which me, Sachin and Jordan shared responsibility for together. We then began to storyboard after Joe and Louis sourced the drama room for filming and assured the instruments in music were free for us to use. On the day of filming we constructed a small stage for the drum kit and then also assembled the drums and put everything into position including lighting.
